Secrets of the Stars – Use Spotlight to Do Math

One of my favorite sites to check out is The Finer Things in Mac, which has a pretty simple mission: show the behind-the-scenes secrets of OS X, and expose them to the world. Today, I found a new one, so I tried it out myself, and ta-da! It worked.

Here’s what you do: Go up to Spotlight (the magnifying glass in the upper-right corner of the menu bar) and enter in a math equation. It will not only show any search options that may be applicable, but it will also show you the answer. Makes it a little bit easier than opening up calculator every time, if that’s your thing.

See, little things like this really make my day.
