If you torrent, that is. Not that we’re advocating downloading movies via torrenting, but we’re not so naive to think that no one does it. Why else would The Pirate Bay still be alive and kicking?
If you have an Apple TV and torrent movies, then you can now stream movie torrents directly to your device via a cross-platform movie streaming app called TorrenTV.
TorrenTV is an open-source app similar in some ways to the popular Popcorn Time, but it has some significant differences which make it more attractive. Don’t expect an index of movies which you can choose from. Instead, expect to be able to add torrents and stream them straight to Apple TV.
In an interview with TorrentFreak, TorrenTV developer Carlos says that “Popcorn Time is beautiful in code and in looks but I wanted to do two things that PopcornTime didn’t allow me, watch movies directly on my TV and add new torrents which Popcorn Time doesn’t have yet.
Carlos has made it so simple that you only have to drag and drop a torrent or magnet link to the app. The file then starts downloading. Via Airplay, you can stream the file to your Apple TV.
TorrenTV is available for Linux, Mac, and Windows, and you can get it here.
