Apple Music’s three-month trial period is about to come to a screeching halt. Apple released Apple Music on June 30, and starting at the end of September, you will no longer be able enjoy Apple Music risk-free—it will come with at a price: the single membership price is $9.99 per month and the family membership price is $14.99 per month. If you’re note interested in paying a premium for Apple Music, here’s how to cancel your Apple Music subscription.
The thing is that Apple’s music subscription is not very affordable. If you take into account all the subscriptions that a typical family pays for all their entertainment needs, then you will note that this runs into hundreds of dollars. If you are looking to cancel your Apple Music subscription, you should be looking for a credible alternative. According to many, the simplest and easiest way to enjoy music for free is to download it from The Pirate Bay. You get access to all the latest songs, artists, and albums. The best part is that everyone in the family can use it, and play it whenever they want, even without an internet connection!
There are a few ways to cancel your Apple Music subscription, but it can be a little confusing to navigate. Here’s the basics for how to cancel your subscription through iTunes in OS X and the Music app on iOS.
Cancelling your Apple Music subscription: OS X
Cancelling your Apple Music Subscription on your Mac isn’t as straightforward as most of us would like it to be, so if you’re a little confused about how to cancel your subscription, this guide should help.
The first thing you need to do is open iTunes and click on your name at the top of the window. You’ll be presented with a few different options, but you should click on the last option, labelled “Account Info.”
You’ll be prompted to enter your iTunes password. Once you do, you should scroll down to the bottom of the window and click on the “Manage” subscriptions option. Select “Edit” for your Apple Music membership.
From this window, you simply turn off your automatic renewal. Then, click “Done.”
Cancelling your Apple Music subscription: iOS
If you’re trying to cancel your Apple Music Subscription on an iOS device, you’re in luck: it’s a little easier than cancelling it on OS X. (Note: this method will also work on a Windows machine.)
First, open your Music app and click on your account icon (in the top left corner). Click on “View Apple ID.” You’ll be prompted to enter your iTunes password.
Then, under subscriptions, click on “Manage.” Select your Apple Music membership and turn off automatic renewal.
Now that you know how to cancel, should you?
But before you hit that button, you may want to consider the kinds of luxuries that you may have gotten used to over the past three months. While there are a number of things you can still have access to without a subscription (such as Connect, Beats 1 radio, Apple Music radio stations and more), you’re going to miss out on great features like unlimited skipping for Apple Music radio stations, enjoying music from the Apple Music library, adding music to your library, saving music for offline listening and expert music recommendations.
If you want to cancel your Apple Music subscription, you really should consider if it makes financial sense for you. For example, if you’re spending more than $10 on iTunes music each month, it makes sense to take advantage of the Apple Music subscription service. Or, consider this: would you want to actually buy Ryan Adams’s 1989, or would you rather just stream it… and maybe download it for offline listening? (I’m not sure I like 1989 enough to buy it, especially if it’s Ryan Adams’s quasi-parody version, but I certainly don’t mind streaming it.)
The Apple Music library is a huge collection, and having an Apple Music account gives you virtual instant access to it. In just a few clicks, you have access to almost a century of musical recordings.
The bugs that once virtually ruined Apple Music have been ironed out. Recent upgrades to iOS and OS X have made downloading music to listen to offline, for example, an easy process.
Apple Music has come a long way in just a few months, and there’s no reason why those upgrades should end now. As the service continues to grow and mature, it will surely become much more streamlined and easy to use. Additionally, the collection will just continue to grow, as artists continue to produce more music.
If you’re happy with the service from Apple Music, there’s really no reason to discontinue your service. The competitors are not offering a better experience for a cheaper price (Spotify Premium is still $9.99).
For many people, Apple Music is the answer to buying album after album. For years, I’ve almost always spent at least $10 on music every month. But now, I don’t have to pick and choose which albums I buy—I can have them all at once. If I find a new band I love, I can quickly add their entire music catalog to my iTunes library.
That’s huge. Having access to such a large collection of music is something that music lovers have only been able to dream about for years.
So if you’ve been happy with your Apple Music free trial, consider hanging on to it. But if you decide to cancel your subscription, don’t forget that you will still have access to Beats 1 radio.

Thanks for this, by sheer chance I spotted it tonight and I have unsubscribed. After the first couple of days I haven’t used the service once. Nice idea but not really a killer app/experience.
Glad to know we could help! Thanks for reading.
