Today, British mobile giant Vodafone announced that they will distribute the iPhone to 10 new countries.

Australia, India, South Africa, the Czech Republic, Egypt, Greece, Italy, New Zealand, Portugal, and Turkey will all have access to the phone, which will be intended to work on the Vodafone network.

Right now no specifics about rate plans or release dates have been announced just yet. It is assumed that this will be the second generation iPhone which should be available sometime next month. 1. I use vodafone in Egypt and I couldn’t be any happier. I already have an iphone (actually it’s my father’s) that’s unlocked and working like a charm but I think that the new 3G iphone with software 2.0 will be a huge hit in Egypt. I hope that they price it right. iPhones are being sold now in Egypt for EGP 3,000 – 5,000 That’s $550 to $900 approximately. I hope they sell it in Egypt for the real price and I think that it would actually be much higher and I had never understood why.

Egypt is a poor country and its people should pay as double as Americans. That’s how ipods, imacs and macbooks (besides everything else) are being priced in Egypt. To me, that’s a MYTH. Anyhow. I am thrilled with the news and I can’t wait to see the iphone ads here in Cairo’s streets and road signs.

I thought you’d be excited as soon I as I saw Egypt in there. Let us know if you hear anything about pricing!
