At&t NO HELP on Defective iPhone

Table of Contents

new-att-logo.jpgWell, the lady that told me that she’d take care of the iPhone problem this morning was wrong, because At&t cannot and will not do anything to help you with a defective or DOA product. They don’t tell you this when you purchase the $600 product at their store, of course, and apparently they didn’t tell all their employees either.

My suggestion to everyone is stay the hell away from At&t stores when dealing with your iPhone. They can’t do anything for you at all…all they’re going to do is try to sell you home cable/phone/internet service while all you’re trying to do is buy an freakin’ iPhone.

Just order it online, or at an Apple Store.

Mine is screwed at this point. The At&t reps agreed that it is, indeed, screwed. I am AGAIN on the phone with Apple, trying to get the situation resolved.

  1. ohcyt: It all depends what kind of contract there is between the retailer and the manufacturer. They have to at least guide your device into an RMA or DOA procedure.

Indeed, it really sucks that AT&T isn’t able to help you in a proper way, but you have to ask yourself, what is the technical knowledge of those sales reps there? 🙂 I’d rather not have them touching my $600 phone and leave it to the pro’s 🙂

Hope you get a replacement quick.

  2. Sorry to hear this shit, good luck…

It sucks to see that AT&T can’t help you with the product you bought in their store a day ago. I live in The Netherlands and I think that’s illegal for retailers here.

  3. My ATT Store told us multiple times (while we were in line and at the register) that Apple handled all the warranty issues. Its too bad that you got a bad phone. Glad you got a replacement. If you got it replaced then that store must not have sold out. Our ATT Store sold out. I wonder how many stores sold out.

  4. This is illegal in the UK, too. All retailers of electrical / electronic goods have to allow returns of faulty products within 28 days, for either a full refund or an exchange. Manufacturers have to provide 12 months warranty by law.

Sad to hear about your iPhone problems, from what I gather though, they’re actually really reliable.

  5. All you idiots who think the iPhone is so great… why dont’ you just send me an INSTANT MESSAGE from your iPhone to let me know. HAHAHAHA. What morons you all are.

  6. ed,

    stop please.

    like michael said.

geez, at least do SOME research before posting…geez some people….l

  7. Yhea, AT&T is no help in this department. Mine is 6 days old with a screen problem. I got the will take it back with a 10% restocking fee! Other than that go to Apple and have them deal with it. This was after Customer service told me to go back to the store I bought it from and they will exchange it. Ummm-ok sure. Found nothing but rude folks there. Apple will replace it, but something is wrong when the return policy on their receipt says I have 14 days for a return or exchange. I showed this and the girl behind the counter says “I have an email here that says no to any exchanges on iphone”. Oh an email, thats official! Long story short, they had no customer service. If you can’t exchange in the 14 day period you should not sell them! Simple as that. I am gonna return my wifes phone and go buy from an independent dealer. Will see how that goes…….I supposedly have 30 days on that.

  8. Wow I’ve created stupid reasons to have phone replaced with Verizon numerous times and received free replacements for fun. We have it good over here where the grass is always greener, data’s unlimited and insurance on any phone is only $6.00 a month. I beat the hell out of em and I can hold my Droid anyway I want…
