incase Releases Upgraded Neoprene Sleeve Plus

I’ve been a big fan of incase products for a long time now, pretty much since I first got into Macs. I own a Nylon Sleeve for my 15-inch MacBook Pro, a flat black Slider case for my 3GS, and I’ve got my eye on their DSL case for my photography work. But one of their most basic and most flexible products is the Neoprene Sleeve Plus, a basic sleeve-style case to protect your wares.

At first, I didn’t understand the concept of a sleeve case. Then I went on a flight to Chicago, and I understood almost immediately. Sleeve cases can be put through TSA screening without having to remove your laptop from the case. I don’t know about you, but having my shiny aluminum MBP out in a bin surrounded by Dells makes me feel a bit like a target. Plus, it’s easy to shove your laptop in a traditional backpack, without having to worry about it getting knocked around or damaged by other items in the bag. So what makes this model so different?

First, there’s the new border. It’s a soft cushion to help with sudden drops on the side of the case, making it just a touch safer. Then there’s the redesigned zippers and lighter neoprene, but ultimately, the reason you’ll buy this thing is because it looks cool and fits that Apple design ethos that we all seem to subscribe to. That, and it’s cheap for an Apple case. $39.95 for 13-, 15- and 17-inch sizes. Not too shabby.
