You know what I’ve decided I don’t have time in my life for anymore?
The Mac vs. PC debate.
Honestly, the Internet can kill the fun in just about anything, and it has officially killed the fun of this back and forth for me. This new Ad from Microsoft is really what takes the cake. Not the ad itself – I think that ad (as an advertisement and nothing more) is well done, and effective.
I also think it makes Microsoft look incredibly frightened of Apple in ways that I didn’t realize.
Apple’s been taking jabs at MS for years, so I certainly don’t have a problem with them fighting back. It’s just the constant bitter back and forth from the different fanboy factions that I can’t stand.
It’s a debate that will never end – and I seriously doubt anyone is ever swayed by the back and forth. Anyway, nice ad on Microsoft’s part…much better than Seinfeld/Gates – but I don’t think it’s going to change the world.

Ok, lets stop the Mac vs. PC debate but I have one last thing.

I agree. let the people that like macs and the pc people to catch hand and start singing Kumbaya.
SHE SAID IT RIGHT IN THE AD!!!….. “I’m just not cool enough to be a mac person.”
so, basically this ad is saying… If you cheap, not cool and don’t care about quality… buy a PC.
notice that she didn’t stay but a second in the apple store – the same guy in black striped shirt she passes by on the way in is continuing past the store just steps past where he was when she went in.
She didn’t look around.

Ugh… did you read what Michael said?
Let’s take the last point first. Apple somehow gets great quality ratings but in the real world, we all know Apple has its problems. Heck, I’m using a machine that’s a replacement for the failed iBook G4 motherboard issue, which took Apple a long time to acknowledge. (I sent in the machine 3 times.)
I am an exclusively-Apple user, but yes, I am cheap. And no, I’m not cool. And I know quality can be found in many places. So, why can’t we just agree that Michael is right. The back-forth is stupid.
I understand yours and Michael’s point… but, I am obscenely biased and narrow minded when it comes to computers. So nothing I say should should be interpreted as anything more than propaganda.
why we can’t be all friends?
I have both PCs and Macs. A Mac is indeed more expensive than a PC. I really like the features and the look of HP’s dv5 computers (great metal look and qaulity, 15.4 inch screen, 320 Gb HD, 4 Gb RAM, HDMI, DTV Tuner, etc.) for about $650. I like OS X, but instead of getting something expensive, I think I’ll just buy the least expensive Mac mini. 3-31-2009
