If this is true, it should satisfy most users. The plans that I spoke with an AT&T rep about on Friday started at $34.95, and it looks like that may be the actual price of the device (which is much less than the “and up” part of that report).
According to Boy Genius and a “highly placed source” AT&T is going to offer what they are calling (at least internally) the “iPlan” which will cost around $34.99-$44.99 and feature unlimited data, and either 2000 text messages, or unlimited text messages.
I will be surprised if they do not feature unlimited txt messages. My current Cingular plan has unlimited text message on it for $5 a month per phone.
This is not yet official, and hasn’t been confirmed by AT&T, but if it proves to be true, it will be on par with the AT&T Black Berry plans.

Uh, these rates are NO surprise. I’m a former Cingular customer, and since their merging (absorbsion?) into AT&T, those are stardard company rates. A smartphone is a smartphone no matter what color it is.
