Must-Watch Short Film: “The Life and Death of an iPhone”

Table of Contents

Your initial thoughts may turn to the first day you got your iPhone to the day it finally died on you – if you have ever reached that point.

There is a degree of accuracy in that, but in this case, it’s all about the iPhone and how it lives its life. Who said that iPhones don’t have their own point of view?

Can you just imagine what your iPhone must be thinking when:

  • you take it with you to the loo?
  • you grip it, swipe, and tap with your oily fingers?
  • you accidentally sit on it?
  • you drop it?
  • you forget it and leave it at a strange place?

Your iPhone must be terrified!

Well, there’s no need to imagine what your iPhone must think of all these things – from its birth to its death. The short film “The Life and Death of an iPhone” gives us a glimpse.

The short film is directed by Paul Trillo, who shot everything using an iPhone.

The film starts with the iPhone’s first sight: a guy with a facial mask. It then sees this guy who has a mixed facial expression – amazement and excitement perhaps.

The POV may make you disoriented at times, but it definitely is worth 7 minutes of your time.

“The Life and Death of an iPhone” is an official selection of the Sploid Short Film Festival, a “contest” held by Sploid, with the goal of highlighting talented individuals and creative teams.

The Festival started accepting entries last June. Deadline for entries is October 31, 2015, and readers can vote till November 14.

Up for grabs is $5,000 for the best video.
