On his weekend talk show on KFI Leo Laporte answered a callers question this weekend about what to expect from Macworld 2007. The caller wanted to know if he should buy an iPod now, or wait until Macworld to see if a new Video iPod was released.
Leo’s response was that he should, in fact, wait (if you want it for video) because the video iPod had not been really updated in over a year, and that it was due for an upgrade.
Leo went on to say that there was “Absolutely No Doubt” that we would see the iPhone this year at Macworld.
While I agree about the iPhone, I’m not so sure that we’ll see a “true” Video iPod this January. I think there is already enough on Apple’s plate to keep fans happy at Macworld this year (iPhone, iTV, Leopard info, iLife updates, etc.) – but I do think we will see the new Video iPod sometime early next year…

Since he’s a Dell shill now, I don’t believe anything he says anymore 😉
Matt –
Seriously, Leo is not a Dell Shill. There’s nothing wrong with liking Dell products or advertising Dell products – I, for one, am happy that Dell is supporting Twit.
Leo did not defect to the dark side. He simply bought a Dell because, as a podcaster, he is trying to cover as much territory as he can, Mac’s, PC’s and Linux.
If he needs a PC it is only natural that he would pick a Dell since they sponsor so much of what he produces. Dell wouldn’t sit still if he bought a Gateway or whatever.
Leo’s is the best podcaster ever! And I am happy to report his main laptop is a black MacBook.
Reading this post and these comments, I have to say this (being in 2008):
You guys had NO IDEA. LOL
@w00master
Not really sure what you’re talking about. If you’re talking about the iPhone – I think its pretty clear in the post that I said there would be an iPhone at Macworld 2007, but no “true” video iPod. There was an iPhone, and the “true” video iPod wasn’t announced until 6 months later.
As for the Leo Laporte comments, they seem accurate too. He’s not a sell out, he’s a fantastic podcaster.
