Dr. Pepper has entered the arena of iPhone developers…wait…what? Yeah, that’s right, Dr. Pepper, the cola (or soda depending on where you live) company has developed a Bejeweled knock off games called Matchcaps.
“There’s always more to Dr Pepper. Consumers want enhanced access to fun and games on their iPhones, and Dr Pepper will be the very first to deliver it to them,” said Andrew Springate, vice president of Dr Pepper marketing. “With the launch of this advergame, Dr Pepper can interact virtually with its consumers anytime, anywhere through their iPhones.”
The game is developed by Imaginuity New Media, and is clearly a knock-off of Popcap’s popular Bejeweled game.
iPhone users can click here to play Bejeweled, and can click here to play Dr. Pepper’s Matchcaps. See any similarities?
Although, I do have to say, the Dr. Pepper game played much faster for me than Pop Cap’s.

From dictionary.com:
“co·la –noun
a carbonated soft drink containing an extract made from kola nuts, together with sweeteners and other flavorings.”
And:
“Dr Pepper is Not a Cola: According to the Texas Handbook Online, prior to a 1963 district court ruling bottlers could not carry Dr Pepper along with Pepsi-Cola or Coca-Cola without violating their franchise contracts because they were not permitted to bottle competing brands. But in 1963 the United States Fifth District Court in Dallas declared that Dr Pepper was not a cola, thus allowing Dr Pepper to expand its reach.”
