I don’t know about you, but this is exactly what I have been looking for ever since I switched to the iPhone 5. I used to NOT understand why people would spend a hundred dollars or more for an external battery pack, but since the “new” phone, I have not gone out without my trusty portable charger.

So, this topic is over discussed, to be sure. There are so many articles you’ll find about solving iOS battery drain issues, but the “Ultimate Guide to Solving iOS Battery Drain” by Scotty Loveless might just do the trick.

Loveless used to be an Apple Genius, and who better to give advice than someone like him? After all, he probably dealt with iOS battery drain complaints more times than he can remember.

What solutions does he present?

First, he tells you how to test your iOS battery drain.

Second, he tells you to disable location and background app refresh for Facebook. Yup, this app is notorious for drinking up all that juice.

Third, he tells you to disable background app refresh for ALL the other apps that you don’t really care about; and you know what? If you take time to think about it, you’ll probably realize there are only a handful of apps you really care about.

Fourth, he tells you to NOT quit your apps in multitasking. Counterintuitive, no?

Fifth, he tells you to play with your push email settings.

And the list goes on. There is a lot to learn from a former Apple Genius, and if you’re sick and tired of having to plug in your iPhone practically the whole day, you should check this out.

For all the details, visit Loveless’s guide.

  1. Actually there are some apps that you should close if you are not using. Those would be apps like Skype and Pandora and others like them. Why? Because they still are active in the background. Skype and other VoIP types of apps need to be active so they can sense when someone is calling you from those apps. Pandora and others are active because they don’t know if you are playing music and performing other tasks.

For most other apps you don’t need to close them unless they are acting wonky.
