New MacBook Airs for Cheaper!

Table of Contents

Apple has dropped some very nice news for people wanting to buy a MacBook Air. With the latest refresh, new MacBook Airs now have more powerful processors – nothing but the latest Intel Haswell processors. Even the most basic model of the new MacBook Airs is faster – albeit only slightly – running on a 1.4GHz Core i5 chip – as opposed to the previous 1.3GHz.

Even better, Apple has slashed the prices on MacBook Airs by $100! So now, the 11-inch model starts at $899 while the 13-inch model starts at $999.

All of this is certainly good news, but to be honest, not tempting enough to upgrade if you’re using the latest (well, next to the latest) MacBook Air. Aside from the speed bump and the price drop, there seems to be nothing new in the specs – certainly not a Retina screen!

Of course, this move will lead to conjecture that a much more improved line of MacBook Airs is coming our way.

I do agree with Phil Schiller when he said that, With MacBook Air starting at $899, there’s no reason to settle for anything less than a Mac. Macs have never been more popular, and today we’ve boosted the performance and lowered the price of MacBook Air so even more people can experience the perfect everyday notebook.

Having gone through 3 different models, I cannot imagine myself using anything else than a MacBook Air, and if the pricing is right with the rumored 12-inch MacBook, which is supposed to be as portable as the 11-inch MBA and as productive as the 13-inch model, I just might go for it as well. (Oh, and Retina!)

What do you think this spec bump and price drop hints at regarding new laptops this year?
