iPhone 5 Cases Already for Sale

Less than 24 hours after the iPhone 5 announcement, my inbox was already filling up with press releases about accessories available to order for the new device. Here’s a quick roundup.

It’ll be a while before we start seeing things like dock speakers or extension cords, as manufacturers need some time to get their hands on Apple’s new Lightning connector specs. But there are no shortage of cases available now, thanks to all of the early leaks out of China.

Quite possibly the first out of the gate was Hard Candy’s ShockDrop case. It’s a rigid, rugged case meant to protect your iPhone 5 from just about anything you can throw at it. It comes in black and red, with a screen protector and port covers. Sells here for $39.95, ships on September 21st.

Hard Candy, by the way, is noteworthy because last year when everyone was expecting the iPhone 5 but we got the 4S instead, this company began mass production on their iPhone 5 cases, based on the rumors at the time. Those cases represent a loss the company had to accept for taking a gamble. This year, they took the same risk, but it paid off.

Waterfield Designs, a personal favorite, is rolling out not one but five different cases for the new iPhone. Waterfield makes all of its products out of the finest materials, including leather and “Ultrasuede,” but for top-of-the-line, luxury accessories, their lineup is surprisingly affordable. Waterfield’s lineup includes cases and sleeves, with prices ranging from $10 to $45. (Pictured: iPhone Smart Case.) Order here. Shipping begins September 28th.

Case Mate has a huge range of cases that are in stock and ready to ship. Prices range from $30 to $50 for these colorful cases that feature vivid solid colors, floral patterns, and clever animal designs, like the penguin above. Most of Case Mates’ cases are made of silicone, and you can get yours here.

Spigen carries some great-looking cases for all types of users, though it’s worth noting that most of them are pre-orderes. Their slick Ultra Thin Air Series is a form-fitting hard plastic shell that comes in black, white, and clear; it sells for $19.99 and $21.99. They also offer diary-style leather wallet cases ($32.99 – $54.99), a leather pouch model ($29.99), and a hard plastic bumper ($31.99). Check out the full selection here.

Get your Star Trek on with this leather flip case from Bear Motion, for just $9.99. Check out Bear Motion’s very reasonably priced selection of iPhone 5 cases, which come in all shapes and sizes, right here.
