Well, color me surprised, the Macbook line has been quietly updated with no aesthetic changes. Today Apple began selling new Macbooks that share the same Santa Rosa-based architecture as their professional cousins.
Macbook Pros will now come with the option to upgrade to a 2.6GHz Core 2 Duo chip as well.
If you were holding off on buying a Macbook or Macbook Pro – this is more than likely it as far as updates go for the rest of the year. Go ahead an order.

Imagine waiting 6 months to buy a new Mac because you want it to come with Leopard and iLife 08. You hold out all that time and drop $1300 on Oct 26 only to find out a week later Apple releases a brand new flash based MacBook Mini?
Can you say iPhone $100 rebate hell all over again?!
Even still, I’d be pretty PO’d if I bought a machine last week, and then this one comes out with better specs.
I think Apple learned from that mistake. I don’t think we’ll be seeing any new machines until Mac Expo 08.
An appreciated update.
