Double Decker USB Plugs Haunt my Dreams

I have a MacBook Pro, and although I love it, one big problem is the lack of USB ports. I almost always need a hub of one kind or another, so that I have enough room to plug in my mouse, external hard drive and everything else that seems to have a USB cord on the end of it. That’s why I love cool design solutions such as this one.

It comes from Yanko Design, and it won an iF Concept Design Award for 2010. It follows up on the Infinite USB Connector that I discussed over at Forever Geek a few months back, but it adds an extra layer. Each USB connection has a male end and a female end, and there is a wire connection that runs off to the side that feeds into the device. This allows you to stack USB connectors one on top of the other to your heart’s content, allowing you to fit all sorts of accessories onto that tiny access area on your MacBook.

Alas, it’s still just a design concept, and it’s not out there yet. But hopefully, it will get built sometime soon and I can stop buying these damned USB hubs. Oh, to dream.
