iPad – The Accessories

Table of Contents

Right out the gate, Apple has some accessories for the iPad, making it even more functional. Pictured above is the iPad Keyboard Dock, which not only charges the iPad but integrates it with a full-size (albeit without a number pad) keyboard, for writing those short stories you love working on. This is the only orientation that you can use the keyboard in by the way, as the dock is only on the bottom of the iPad, not on both the bottom and side as some people theorized.

More after the jump.

Want to protect your investment? Of course you do, particularly when 50% of it is made up of glass. This is the case for the iPad, and it folds up a bazillion different ways, depending on how you want to use it. Slight angle for typing, propped up for watching movies, or maybe just closed so you can get some sleep. Either way, it’s all there, plus it gives you that old-school Day Timer feel.

Everybody knows that I heart docks, and this one looks like it’d fit on my desk just fine. Notice the tall back so that the weight of the iPad doesn’t crush the connector. I imagine that’s a design feature.

I didn’t hear anything about this in the keynote, but this is a dock connector to plug in SD cards or a USB cable. It’s called the iPad Camera Connection Kit, but I have a feeling some people will be using these to plug in external drives to do some hacking. Even if not, it’s a great way for grandma to get her pictures online.

  1. @dan…

there is already the iPhone/iPod Touch adapter that can display your videos etc to your HDTV or Projector that uses Dock connector to RCA (red, white, yellow) and a usb for charging…sold at your local Best Buy by Griffin and RocketFish

so those cables can do what you are talking about for you…good luck…hope you love it

  2. ps I’m sure the back of the dock has the same dock connector that the iPod/iPhone dock has on the back of it…so you can dock it and present if you want to

be sure to check that out
