modbook.pngWith all the iPhone hype on the 9th, Axiotron’s Modbook seemed to get overlooked when it debuted on the same day. That’s a shame too, because this thing looks incredibly impressive.

As a graphic designer, the idea of having a Wacom powered tablet Mac has been a dream of mine for years, and to see that finally become a reality (even if it isn’t from Apple) is just completely awesome.

The Modbook comes in three flavors, Good, Better, and Best…and each of them are very close, stats wise, to their Macbook counterparts. The low end processor is 1.8e GHz, with the higher models bumping up slightly to 2.0 GHz. Memory starts at 512 mbs, and goes up to 2 Gigs, and the Better and Best models also feature built in GPS.

The prices range from $2199 to $2699…which might seem pricey at first, but when you consider what you’re getting for your money, it seems like a steal to me. The Modbook is going to be a MUST HAVE device for Artists who have been wanting a tablet Mac. No word yet on the exact ship date, but looks like it will be in March or April (so hopefully it will be running Leopard when it ships).

You can pre-order it right here.
