iPhone Review Round-Up w/ 2 Video Reviews

Table of Contents

Major media outlets from all over are joining in on the iPhone promotion. I hesitate to call it hype anymore, because all of these reviews seem to say the same thing. The iPhone – apparently – lives up to the hype.

The Wall Street Journal Says:
“Our verdict is that, despite some flaws and feature omissions, the iPhone is, on balance, a beautiful and breakthrough handheld computer.”

Here, you can see his video review of the iPhone:

Newsweek Says:
“…bottom line is that the iPhone is a significant leap…The iPhone is the rare convergence device where things actually converge.”

USA Today Says:
“Apple’s iPhone isn’t perfect, but it’s worthy of the hype…”

New York Times Says:
“”so sleek and thin, it makes Treos and BlackBerrys look obese.””

Sounds like, if you’re not standing in line on Friday…you should be.

  1. well… i would say that it’s no surprise apple gives out the first review samples to people of whom they just know that their results will be positive. having your device screwed in it’s first review before the device even hits the market is not what any marketing department wants.

  2. i’m not saying they’re exactly planted, but seeing as jobs himself spoke to most of the reviewers in person on one or the other occasion… i think he could be pretty sure of what he would get. i mean… suppose i went to wwdc and got a chance to play with an iphone, and afterwards i tell steve “i think your phone is nothing special” – you think i’d get to do a review? (of course it also matters for whom i write, but still, you get the idea.)

i am not trying to be cynical here, i’m just not half as enthusiastic about the iphone anymore than i was when it was first announced. i believe there are/soon will be quite a number of better phones out there, but then again, we people in europe have always been served better than you guys over there considering mobiles.

I think that’s a really cynical way of looking at it. I don’t believe you can really call Newsweek, USA Today, The Wallstreet Journal, AND the New York Times “plant” reviews….
