Patent RUMORS: 3D Multiple Dashboards on the way?

multidash.jpgPatent filing revealed yesterday that we might see a new Dashboard in the near future.  The design suggests that we could have multiple Dashboard screens that we could switch between, both in 2D and 3D.

This “multidash” set up sounds like something that we might see in Leopard based on the fact that Dashboard is due for an update in the OS, and this multiple dashboard set up coincides with the new “Spaces” feature we already know about in Leopard….but right now all we have are Patent filings.  So that doesn’t really mean anything other than an acknowledgement that Apple is thinking about this idea.

It will be interesting to see if we see this feature revealed at WWDC.  I think this could make Dashboard exponetially more useful, and I hope that we do.

  1. Yea this would be really cool to have, especially for having certain dashboards for specific things, such as work vs personal. I dunno about 3D though, from my understanding it was just a method of switching dashboard views.
