YouTube Find: iPhone now has voice recognition – or does it?

Posted by: Michael on Aug 22, 2007 |

Did Voice Signal really just post a video saying that they hacked the iPhone to put a voice recognition app on it? Somehow I doubt it, but you can view the video below and judge for yourself.

To me it looks like someone just built an App for the iPhone that played two songs, then just faked the rest and said it was from Voice Signal. Gizmodo seems to think it’s real…but I’m not buying it.

What do you think?

Looks to me like a hacked third party app. It does show that there is potential for Apple to include such application or software in a future iPhone update – the hardware supports voice recognition.

I’m not buying it. We would have heard about this technology/possibility long before it showed up as a YouTube post.

It’s real – go to http://www.voicesignal.com and they have links to the demo. VoiceSignal is shipping similar functions on much less powerful phones, so there’s no question they can do it.
