I don’t understand How noone can get a streaming video into this place I mean come on I want to see it LIVE not, Oh I will type in a couple of sentences every 5min. ending in boom.

@jec
I promise I will not type a sentence in every five minutes (how about every minute or two) and I will use “boom” no more than seven times.
The biggest problem with it is the simple fact that it will cost a fortune in bandwidth. I think World of Apple is going to try it. They tried it last year, but I never saw it working.
Engadget, for example, gets about a million pageviews during a keynote - there’s just no way to support that kind of simultaneous streaming. That’s why Apple has stopped streaming the event live.

ok, i’m not a computer engineer, but let’s solve this bandwidth dilemma.
all they’d have to do is put the stream on a delay. 2, 3, even 5 minutes would not be the end of the world.
in the few minutes that everyone is waiting for new video data, send it out to lots and lots of servers everywhere around the country and or world which will serve the stream. this data could even be shared by torrent-esque delivery or whatever if that will make it all work.
boom. we can watch the keynote.

on second thought, torrent delivery wouldn’t work because the servers will demand the data in sequence.
a new delivery mechanism is required.
let’s say we split the video up into pieces of 10-second length, just for kicks. we build a hierarchical tree of servers… for example, maybe the top server delivers to four below it, which each do the same.
so with n levels of our server hierarchy we’ll have 4^n + 1 servers ready to stream the video out to users. make the tree as big as you need it but keep it so that all the data will replicate itself down within the delay window you’ve set.
boom.

apple is showing the video on their website, but i’m sure it’ll be overloaded with hits and may either crash, lock viewers out after a while, or run very slow.

Apple is *NOT* showing the video live. They stopped doing that in… 2005? They release the stream on the website either in the evening or on Wednesday.
