Apple quietly updates Macbook and Macbook Pros

macbook.jpg

Well, color me surprised, the Macbook line has been quietly updated with no aesthetic changes. Today Apple began selling new Macbooks that share the same Santa Rosa-based architecture as their professional cousins.

Macbook Pros will now come with the option to upgrade to a 2.6GHz Core 2 Duo chip as well.

If you were holding off on buying a Macbook or Macbook Pro – this is more than likely it as far as updates go for the rest of the year. Go ahead an order.

  1. Imagine waiting 6 months to buy a new Mac because you want it to come with Leopard and iLife 08. You hold out all that time and drop $1300 on Oct 26 only to find out a week later Apple releases a brand new flash based MacBook Mini?

Can you say iPhone $100 rebate hell all over again?!

Even still, I’d be pretty PO’d if I bought a machine last week, and then this one comes out with better specs.

I think Apple learned from that mistake. I don’t think we’ll be seeing any new machines until Mac Expo 08.
