REVIEW – Ivory Tiles for iPhone

There are countless games for the iPhone and iPod touch. It’s honestly getting hard to even keep track of them all, and Apple seems to be more keen on promoting games from VC funded companies or big corporations than games that are actually…you know…good. (Not to say that ALL of those game are bad, but you get what I mean.)

So it’s not surprising that some amazing games can slip through the cracks. One such game is Ivory Tiles. I haven’t seen much press about the game, and it’s currently not in the App Store Top 100.

I sincerely hope that changes though, because this game is simply amazing.

The concept is simple enough. You move ivory titles around a gameboard. There are over 80 puzzles, and each board has a unique configuration that must be deciphered to move to the next round. As the puzzles get more difficult the game becomes extremely challenging – but still very easy to pick up and put down.

The game is visually very impressive. Overall it has production values equal to, or better than, any puzzle game on the iPhone.

One of the things I like the most about this game is how quickly you can attempt a puzzle, and how fast you can drop out of it. This game is PERFECT for killing some time while waiting in line, in traffic, or whatever. You can pick it up, give a puzzle a shot, and set it down whenever you need to.

If I had one “negative” thing to say about it, it would simply be that it’s TOO addicting. I play a lot of games on the iPhone for reviews, and for fun – and Ivory Tiles is one of the only ones that I consistently come back to over and over again.

You can get it now in the App Store for $2.99.
