YouTube Find: Jerry Seinfeld and Bill Gates Take 2 – “Why are we doing this, again?”

The second Jerry Seinfeld and Bill Gates commercial from Microsoft has been released – and…um…it’s a lot like the first one. So far, comments on other sites and on YouTube seem to indicate that people are liking this one a little more than the first one, and I think I would agree that it is slightly better…but still very weird, slightly off-putting, and not at all what I would have expected from Microsoft…and I don’t mean that in a good way.

This one clocks in at 4:30 – which is kinda long for a commercial. Take a look at it – and feel free to tell us what you think in the comments below.

  1. I still don’t “get” the whole marketing angle here. I don’t know what it’s doing for Microsoft, but it was kinda funny.

  2. Personally I find the second ad even more disturbing and pointless… OK, it had a few funny moments, but overall it was disgusting. Maybe it will make sense later and in now does exactly what it was designed to do – make everyone talking and wondering about it, but I still think they could start off with something much, much better.

  3. Personally, I’ve never cottoned to forced comedic quirkiness. And why do we have to “humanize” Bill Gates in order to love Windows Vista? Makes about as much sense as voting for a presidential candidate you’d like to have a beer with.

  4. It’s rather funny, but I don’t understand the connection with Windows Vista. Maybe you have to see all the films (how many are there?) before you get it… But why make it so complicated? Just look at the latest iPod commercials – that are how it’s done!
