New Popcorn Time iOS App – No Jailbreak Needed!

Popcorn Time fans who don’t like jailbreaking their iOS device will love the fact that a new Popcorn Time iOS app is going to be released today – without the need to jailbreak!

TorrentFreak reports that today, Popcorn Time’s first anniversary, an installer will be released so that non-jailbroken devices can use the iOS app.

The Popcorn Time fork already had an iOS app, which they released a few months ago. However, the new one is special as it can be installed on any device.

The developers say they use a new custom installer that can add apps to iOS devices without requiring a jailbreak. Popcorn Time’s dedicated iOS page will link to the new installer starting tomorrow [today].

The great thing about the new installer is that it’s such an ease to use.

According to the team, this is how it works:

All a user will need to do to get Popcorn Time on a jailbroken iOS device is to download the ‘iOS installer’ to his desktop computer, connect his iOS device to the computer with a USB cable, and then just follow simple instructions that will download the app on the iOS device.

There’s that caveat, though. You will still need access to a jailbroken iOS device which has the Popcorn Time app installed.

So why is the Popcorn Time team doing this? They want to break Apple’s closed ecosystem.

Keep your eyes peeled for the release of the new Popcorn Time iOS app!

  1. What an incredibly crappy article – it’s almost unbelievable that someone who claims to be a writer would publish an article about software without ever even making an attempt to describe what the software is and what it does.
