Briefly: Mac Malware, iPhone Award, and Dumbest Apple Predictions

Slashdot is reporting that their is a Mac Malware site out there that is attempting to high jack machines through porn. It wants you to download a .DMG file that will mount and require you to click several screens before becoming infected, but once you are infected, it will take complete control of the machine.

The solution? Don’t download porn – just go to xtube instead.

🙂

The iPhone was been named the Invention of the Year by TIME Magazine. That’s very high, and very well deserved praise as far as I’m concerned.

The Wired Blog has a great collection of the 15 Dumbest Apple Predictions of All Time…

Here’s my 3 favorite from the article:

“The iMac will only sell to some of the true believers. The iMac doesn’t include a floppy disk drive drive for doing file backups or sharing of data. It’s an astonishing lapse from Jobs, who should have learned better… the iMac is clean, elegant, floppy-free–and doomed.” — Hiawatha Bray in the Boston Globe, 1998.

“The iPhone is nothing more than a luxury bauble that will appeal to a few gadget freaks.” — Matthew Lynn, in Bloomberg after the January announcement.

“The expectation on the iPod is that HP’s version will probably outsell Apple’s version relatively quickly.” — Rob Enderle, quoted in MacObserver in August 2004.
