Want to IM on your iPhone? Meebo has you covered…

Table of Contents

meebo.jpgOne of the most glaring omissions from the iPhone is an Instant Messenger application. Rumor has it that a version of iChat is coming soon to the iPhone…but for the time being there is no IM client for the iPhone.

Oh wait…yeah there is…

Meebo.com is an interesting start up. The company basically offers web based IM access to anyone, anywhere. You can connect to Google Talk, Yahoo!, AIM, Jabber, ICQ, MSN and even Meebo’s own IM…and they all work pretty darn well on the iPhone.

Now, keep in mind, the site was not designed to work with the iPhone, so having multiple conversations is kind of a chore right now. You also have to hit the GO button on your pop-up keypad to send the messages, currently there is no “send” button, but for the most part this is easy enough to use.

It’s certainly better than nothing. I tried the iPhone AIM app that is online, but I could never get it to work. Meebo does.

Even if you don’t have an iPhone, but are in places where you can’t download your favorite messenger, but would still like to chat with your friends and family, Meebo is a good solution for that problem…just don’t let the boss see you.
