Let me tell you a little bit about my schedule.
Wake up at 6:45, watch some DVR’d TV in the living room while breakfast is made, then I eat for a bit and watch a show, typically for an hour. I then get in the shower, and 30 minutes later I’m at my desk, typing away. I have lunch at noon, dinner around 6, and maybe I’ll catch up on some TV in the evening, but typically I’m working until 11 or so until I go to bed. I turn on the TV, set it on sleep mode, and hit the sack.
Inevitably, I’ll be falling asleep and see a commercial for something I want to watch, or I want to record the show I’m watching because otherwise I won’t get to sleep. I don’t want to get up to record the thing in the living room, but I do want to record it. Oh, what to do?
DirectV came out with their iPhone app a few months back, and it works exactly as advertised. Plug in a show you want to record, set the room you want it recorded to – in my case, the living room – and ta-da! The next morning  I wake up and I can watch my stories. Good times for everyone.
Ultimately, I think that’s exactly what a good iPhone app needs to be. It has one purpose, one directive, and it does it exceedingly well. Although my experiences with DirectV over the years have been less than stellar, this app certainly did make my life a lot easier, and for the low price of “free,” that makes it all worth it.

There are a lot of things that this app cannot do, and if you chose it over DRA (DISH remote access) then you are shorting yourself. I have been a long time customer and employee of DISH and I gotta say that I have no issues with them. I would suggest them over DirecTV any time. Some might say I am biased, however I had DirecTV before I had DISH, and I will say that they DVR’s and customer service and all around service doesn’t match up!
