Here’s a quickie for you who have older MacBooks (MacBook Pros and MacBook Airs).
Apple just rolled out three small firmware updates that address potential battery problems on the older models. If you’re struggling with yours, then you will definitely want the update as it is supposed to give your battery a new life. Well, probably not exactly new, but at least an extended life.
From Apple:
“This update addresses a rare issue on some Apple notebooks where a battery that has accumulated more than 1000 charge cycles may unexpectedly shut down or stop functioning.”
You can get the update here.
If you bought your laptop last year, you should not need the update. I tried downloading the firmware update for my mid-2012 MacBook Air, and got a “not compatible” message, so don’t bother if you’re in the same boat.
