Amidst Apple’s iPad 2 announcement was news the original iPad would not only be sold alongside its newer brother at a discounted price but that recent purchasers would be refunded $100.
The first generation iPad is now being sold at a $100 discount starting at $499 and refurbished units being offered at $349. However, the last generation iPad is being sold on Apple’s clearance section and may not be available for much longer.
The weeks leading to a major Apple announcement is the worst time to buy a new Mac, iPad, iPhone or iPad. Apple Blogs (like us!) report rumors and news on upcoming Apple products and most recently, the iPad 2. We break down the rumors and write what matters.
As noted by MacRumors, Apple’s sale policies allow customers to request a partial refund if a current product receives a price cut:
Should Apple reduce its price on any shipped product within 14 calendar days of shipment, you may contact Apple Store Customer Service at 1-800-676-2775 to request a refund or credit of the difference between the price you were charged and the current selling price. To receive the refund or credit you must contact Apple within 14 calendar days of the price change.

I just recently purchased an iPad and let me first just say that I love it. However, if I had known that a newer version would be available one month after my purchase……I would have waited for the newer version to arrive. I don’t qualify for the $100.00 rebate either because it has been more than 14 days since my purchase. I would like to see apple offer a trade up deal for people like myself. I would really like the newer version but cannot afford to purchase another iPad at full price. I would be willing to pay a trade up fee! Any plans on offering that to your loyal customers?
