WWDC 2008 mailer confirms dates, raises questions

Apple is already busy making plans for June, and the rumored dates of June 9th through the 13th have been confirmed as the official days for WWDC 2008. The image that Apple sent out features the Golden Gate Bridge – or rather 2 Golden Gate Bridges – going in two different directions.

This has already started massive speculation. Is Apple referring to the two paths of development – Mac or iPhone/iPod Touch? Or is it an indication of something else entirely?

Personally – I don’t have a clue. I’m leaning towards the “two paths of development” idea, but I suppose it could mean something else…I’m just not sure what.

What do you think?

  1. As stated on the WWDC website:

“The groundbreaking innovations of Mac OS X Leopard and iPhone OS offer two revolutionary development platforms for developers and IT professionals. Immerse yourself with information-rich sessions where Apple engineers go in-depth on the innovative technologies that power the features of these sophisticated platforms.”

So clearly, the bridges represent the two revolutionary platforms: Mac OS X and iPhone OS.

It’s a very cool picture. 馃檪

  2. The two bridges aren’t diverging, you’re looking at it backwards. They’re *converging* on the San Francisco side. Two platforms (like David said) “coming together” in San Francisco, where WWDC is held. Not exactly a stunning metaphor.

  3. Maybe its two paths coming together. Or, maybe Apple just wants to see what kind of speculation and rumors arises out of the two bridges. We’ll know more in a few months.

  4. I think boot camp 3.0. Windows and Mac. And just in more ways, the other one is het mac and iphone platform will come together.

  5. @Geoff
I completely agree. That’s the first impression I got when I looked at the picture too, could refer to a greater relationship between Mac OS X and iPhone OS, possibly more regular features making their way to the iPhone (iChat, office apps, etc.)

  6. or maybe steve jobs is leaving apple, as his rival has retired maybe he wants to do the same? hehehe… joke..

wait this is also the month when the new iPhone Firmware is going to be release.
