Leopard Quicktip – Preparing iWork documents for Quick Look

leopardquicktip.jpg

When you create a document with iWork ’08 (Numbers, Pages, or Keynote) you can take an extra step to ensure that the document will display with proper formatting in Quick Look by selecting the “Include Preview in Document” check box when you save.

Alternatively you can set this feature to be checked by default in the General Preferences pane.

  1. Special Sauce says:

Its nice to know I’m not the only one who prefers my desktop to have small icons with text on the right side.

  2. Nice! I was wondering why Quick Look was rendering my Pages/Numbers documents correctly. But why didn’t Apple include this more complete rendering of such documents built into Quick Look (without having to choose the option to ‘Include a Preview’)?

  3. The reason this is an option instead of default is file size bloat.
The quicklook preview is a fullblown pdf version of your document.
I have a 1 MB pages doc that becomes 4.4 MB with the ‘preview’
it should be able to render on the fly instead of requiring you to hide a pdf version of your doc inside the file.
    NO thanks!
