NY Times source claims Steve Jobs is still cancer free

Anonymous sources have spoken with The New York Times, and claim that Steve Jobs’ cancer HAS NOT returned.

While I’m not one to generally trust “anonymous sources” I would like to believe that the ones The New York Times spoke to recently are telling the truth. The Times claims that their source is very reliable and has provided very accurate information in the past, but does not wish to be named because Steve Jobs has not authorized him/her to speak.

This person claims that Jobs’ cancer has not returned – instead, they claim Jobs had a surgery earlier this year that was designed to remedy the problem that was producing the weight-loss. That’s about as vague as it gets, but its all we have to go on for now.

Is it someone within Apple doing damage control, or a concerned friend genuinely trying to tell the world that Steve is ok? I don’t know the answer to that, but I hope its the latter.

The Times also confirms in the article that Apple has a succession strategy should Steve ever leave the company, but it is – of course – confidential. This week Steve is on vacation, and could not be reached for comment.
