Twelve South Does it Again: Compass Mobile Stand for iPad

I love my Twelve South BookArc for iPad, and every day, it’s the place that stores my iPad in between uses. But as much as I love it, I need something mobile for when I take my iPad on the road. The stand that comes with my incase Travel Kit Plus is nice for viewing movies, but it’s not great for working with, as it shakes with every keystroke. I’ve been wondering about another option for a while now, and it turns out, I should’ve just gone back to Twelve South.

Out now is the Twelve South Compass Mobile Stand for iPad.  It’s a bit pricey at $39.99, but the idea is brilliant. It looks similar to an easel, and like the same device, it folds up for portability. But this easel also can be put up in two different positions, including one that’s perfect for typing on. So to sum up, it’s portable, it’s versatile, and it’s cool looking. Cool, right?

Ultimately, the only thing that I can see that’s wrong with this product is the price, but I don’t think that’s going to stop Twelve South from selling a metric ton of them. Frankly, I might buy one myself.

  1. Notice that the flip-up tabs for securing the iPad at its base tend to obstruct typing on the built-in keyboard unless there is a way for the tabs to be used in a position where they are not completely flipped open. Otherwise, it looks like a winner.
