NBC Jumps into Rebound Relationship with Amazon after Apple Break-up

The NBC/Apple/Amazon love triangle is kind of funny. It’s all about television shows…and it’s kind of playing out like a poorly written television show itself.

NBC is now going steady with Amazon because Amazon was willing to do all the things that Apple wasn’t…and to read it in their own words you’d think this whole thing was airing on the CW. “Amazon is a company that understands the value we provide as content owners to its business,” said Jean-Briac Perrette, president of NBC Universal Digital Distribution.

“Amazon understands me! You don’t know Amazon like I do. Amazon is special! Amazon LOVES me!!” NBC screamed before walking out the door….

I think it’s great that NBC and Amazon have teamed up to try and screw consumers out of their hard earned money. Maybe after they put a lot of time, money, and effort into this, and then see that we’re not going to pay for content this way, they’ll wise up.

Maybe not.

Either way, I fully expect NBC to be very disappointed with the sales figures from Amazon’s craptastic Unbox service.

  1. the sad part is that independently these are excellent companies. NBC has great content and Amazon has a huge retail market. But if the two of them are going to sleep together to try and make apple jealous it won’t work. NBC will see that Apples stock prices are still going up and their market share growing then they’ll come crying back “I’m so sorry Apple… I took our relationship for granted, Amazon meant nothing to me!” Then Apple will be like… “too late, I’ve moved on”

  2. I’m actually really glad NBC is doing this. It will give us some nice facts to use when people doubt the pull the iTunes store has. NBC is going to be rather surprised when they get the first check from their fun in the amazon.
