RIM co-CEO sees No Threat from iPhone

In a recent interview Research In Motion Ltd.’s (makers of BlackBerry) co-CEO Jim Balsillie stated that he doesn’t see the Apple iPhone as a threat to the BlackBerry Pearl, simply another entry into the smartphone market.

“It’s kind of one more entrant into an already very busy space with lots of choice for consumers,” Jim Balsillie said of Apple. “But in terms of a sort of a sea-change for BlackBerry, I would think that’s overstating it.”

You can read the rest of the article here…but be warned, it’s basically a BlackBerry Pearl commerical…

I actually agree with Mr. Balsillie here.  I don’t think that the iPhone is going to cure people of Crackberry addiction anytime soon.  I think the iPhone is going to have a place in the smartphone market…but I’m not sure that business is going to be it.
