New iPhone Apps for July 23, 2008

A handful of new applications were added to the App Store. I’m not sure why the flood of applications seems to be getting shorter, since I know there are thousands of developers out there who still haven’t been “approved” for the store, but we’re seeing less and less high profile stuff, and a lot more…ahem…other stuff.

New and Updated Apps for today include: ABA Journal, Astronomer, Barcode, Berlin Trip Planner, City Guide, Cowbell Plus, Cro-Mag Ralley, https://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewSoftware?id=285258963&mt=8, Hangman Sim, iRSSmobile, Mosquito, Note2Self, Stay in Tune, TN5250, and World Book – This Day in History

Highlights include:

Cowbell Plus – That’s right, for $1.99 you can turn your iPhone into a musical instrument. Cowbell, Tambourine, or even a woodblock. I don’t know if its truly useful, but it does seem at least moderately entertaining.

Note2Self – This app does one thing, but it seems to do it in the easiest way possible. You just launch Note2Self, then hold the iPhone up to your face and speak. It starts recording when it gets near your ear, and stops recording when you take it away. No buttons to press. If you need to take audio notes throughout the day, I can’t really think of a simpler way to do it.
