App Store to launch on July 11th, 2008

There are reports going around that the iPhone 2.0 software will drop on June 27th because of info obtained from the Australian Apple website; in spite of word from Apple that we would see an “early July” release of the software.

After speaking directly to someone “close to the project” today, I can confirm that the App Store will launch on July 11th, the same day as the iPhone. Apple has already confirmed an “early July” release of the software, and it makes sense for it to be released on the same day as the iPhone 3G.

Of course debate will continue about when we’ll actually see the iPhone 2.0 software and the App Store until its actually released, but based on the information I have, I feel confident in stating July 11th is the actual release date.

  1. So your confirmation is based on the fact that it would make sense? Great, as if this possibility hadn’t occurred to anyone yet.

No, my confirmation is that someone who is directly involved with the App store told me. 🙂
