How to Edit Calendar on iPhone


One of the most underrated apps that come with iPhones is the Calendar app. Its function helps people remember important events and meetings and get people organized with their daily lives. This app also notifies users when there are upcoming events, together with important details like time and location. Most people sync their calendars across all devices so they won’t miss out on anything, whatever device they’re using.

If you’re a beginner and you still don’t know how to navigate the Calendar app on iPhone, here’s a quick guide on how to edit events in the app.

How to Add an Event 

Let’s start with the most basic action when using the Calendar app: adding an event. It’s pretty easy and you can add your entire schedule to your Calendar app. You can also opt to set an alert if you want to get notifications prior to the event. Here’s how to add an event to your Calendar app:

  1. On your iPhone, open the Calendar app.
  2. On the upper right corner of the screen, tap on the + sign, which means Add.
  3. Enter the details of the event, such as the title, location, date, and time. You can also add notes and a link if you want. In addition, you can set this event as an all-day one or indicate the start and end date and time. 
  4. If you want to get notified of the upcoming event, you can choose an alert as well.
  5. Once you’re done entering all the details, tap on Done located at the upper right corner of the screen.

How to Edit an Event

Now, what if you already created an event and you need to edit it? Might be due to getting additional information or a change about the event. Follow these instructions on how to edit an event in your Calendar app:

  1. On your iPhone, open the Calendar app.
  2. Tap on the date of the event that you want to edit. You will see a list of events starting from that date.
  3. Select the event that you wish to edit.
  4. Now, you can start editing the details of the event.
  5. Once you’re done editing the details, tap on Done located at the upper right corner of the screen.

How to Delete an Event

Oops, the event has been cancelled. How do you remove it from your Calendar app? It’s pretty easy. Simply follow these steps to delete an event in your Calendar app:

  1. On your iPhone, open the Calendar app.
  2. Tap on the date of the event that you want to delete. You will see a list of events starting from that date.
  3. Select the event that you wish to delete. You will see the details of the event.
  4. At the bottom of the screen, tap on Delete Event.
  5. You will be prompted to confirm the removal of the event from your Calendar app. Select Delete Event and it will be removed from your Calendar app.
  6. If it is a recurring event, you will be prompted to confirm whether to delete just this single event or all future events. 
    1. If you want to delete the entire series of events, select Delete All Future Events. 
    2. If you want to delete just this one event, select “Delete This Event Only.”

How to Delete All Events in a Single Calendar (using iTunes)

The above instructions are all for single events. That means that you add, edit, and delete events one by one. However, what if you want to delete all events? Would you need to delete them all one by one as well? There’s actually a more efficient way of deleting all events in your Calendar app using iTunes. Here’s how you do it:

  1. Open the iTunes app on your laptop.
  2. Connect your iPhone to your laptop using a USB cable.
  3. Once detected by iTunes, click on the device icon at the icon bar to see the information and syncing options of the iPhone.
  4. Beside the Sync Calendar, uncheck the box. A pop-up window will appear.
  5. Click Remove Calendars.
  6. On the lower right portion of the iTunes window, click Apply. This will remove all calendar events from your Calendar app.
