Apple extends Early Registration for WWDC to May 11th – Why?

wwdc07.jpgApple announced twice yesterday that it as extending the registration for this year’s World Wide Developers Conference.  First, it was mentioned in the press release announcing that Steve Jobs was giving the keynote.

Then later in the day, Apple sent out another email to developers letting them know that the early registration discount had been extended to May 11th.

I can’t help but wonder if the reason for this is due to a low registeration rate – but I would think developers would be jumping at the chance to learn the ins and outs of Leopard…

  1. They’ve done it for the last three years, IIRC, and they’ve been steadily increasing attendance.

  2. I didn’t know about the increasing attendance, but I had noticed that extending early registration seemed almost to be a WWDC tradition. Maybe it’s a way of helping habitual procrastinators who might otherwise forget and let the first deadline go by. Kind of like a snooze button.
