I love Stumble Upon. It’s one of my favorite ways to surf the web. My biggest complaint about it is that I have to use Firefox for it. Now, don’t get me wrong, Firefox is great – but I find it really slows my Mac down (most likely because I have 100+ other windows open, but that’s not the point) and I’d much rather “stumble” in Safari.
Enter this post. Not only is the guy using a beautiful design from the Elena, the wonderfully talented designer of Apple Gazette (even though he’s not linking back to Design Disease, which is a clear violation of the terms to use said theme – which is slightly upsetting), but he also has a great idea that’s gaining some steam.
I don’t normally write a post saying “hey, digg this!” but if you’re a Digg user you can click here and digg the article and help tell Stumble Upon that we want a Safari button!

What exactly is this? and does the thumbs up, thumbs down related? I’ve heard of it before never really knew what it was for though.

Stumble Upon is kind of like Channel surfing the web. When you install the Stumble Upon toolbar you also tell it what categories you’re interesting in, then you hit Stumble, and it randomly takes you to various sites all over the web, in the categories of your interest.
You can then give the sites a “thumbs up” or a “thumbs down” based on your interest in it. It then tailors future “stumbles” according to your likes and dislikes. Plus, stories that are given several “thumbs up” become popular (ala Digg) and are shown more frequently to people whoa are interested in that category.

Dugg… this should have been done by now ! I can’t understand why someone hasnt ? I have a bookmarklet in Safari that sort of does this but it isnt 100%

The ONLY reason I use Firefox on my Mac is for stumbling. On PC it’s my default browser though. SU definitely needs a toolbar for Safari!

Yes, I agree with all the posts completely. There really should be a stumble upon for Safari because Firefox is so buggy for MAC users. PLEASE, PLEASE, we are all begging for a stumble upon add-on for Safari.

Have you guys NOT heard of “STUMBI” that is a Safari add on that gives you a Stumbleupon button ?!?!

It’s great that that exists….i guess…but there’s no way in hell that I’m paying $4 for a StumbleUpon button. Ever.
You can use the stumbleupon demo on safari, whilst you cannot choose preferences, it’s still a great tool when you’re bored 🙂
I use it all the time
On firefox I had logged onto facebook, and while logged on I had thumbs upped a page on stumble
It was saved to my facebook, I clicked on the picture in Safari, and up popped the demo!
