Most Completely Obvious Rumor Ever: Macbooks to go all Aluminum.

macbooks.jpg

Friday MacNN reported on a new claim that the next generation of Macbook may go all aluminum. Their unconfirmed source claims that almost everything on the next generation of Macbook will be aluminum, much like the new iMac.

Is it just me, or is this – hands down – the most completely obvious rumor in the history of Apple rumors?

The Macbook Pro is metal. The new iMac is metal. Heck even the new iPod Classic is metal. Silver is the new White as far as Apple is concerned, and you have to think that the next version of the Macbook will follow suit. It’s the only white item left on the line. The Mac Mini has been surrounded in silver since its debut. The iPhone is black and silver.

They don’t even offer a white version of ANY iPod now. Even the Mac KEYBOARDS are metal now.

I think it’s safe to say that, regardless of this “source’s” credibility, the new Macbook is going to come in a silver, shiny, metal model.

Of course, that’s just my opinion – what do you think?

  1. i think that you’re right. and i think it’s nice because things made out of metal tend to be robust and not get dirty so darn quick. but i also think it’s kind of a shame since i like my shiny white macbook.

    oh the conflict of thoughts!

  2. The real question is… when will they be released?

Between Leopard’s release and Spring 2008 is, more or less, an obvious choice. But can any one speculate a more precise date?

  3. I think is a shame to loose that “white clean identity” apple products have. I know designs change over time, but one should see that some of that corporate identity goes with the white line of products… imac, & macBooks.
