HDtv at Macworld? Here’s an interesting clue…

Table of Contents

screenshot_02.pngPaul Boltin over at Valleywag noticed something very, very interesting yesterday about the teaser image that Apple has had up on the site for the last week.

It’s 744 pixels wide and 420 high. Recognize that ratio? Those are the 16:9 dimensions of an HDTV screen. Is it a hint from Apple? I think so…the question is a hint about WHAT?

Is it a clue that Apple is going to launch a line of HDtvs? Paul thinks so.

I’m more inclined to believe that we’ll be getting HD from iTunes and that iTV will play into that as well.

Either way, I doubt its a coincidence that the image happens to be those exact dimensions.

Right now, this is just one more rumor to add to the mix…expect a full rumor round up from Apple Gazette soon…

  1. Michael – I tend to agree with you rather than Paul. I think Apple is going to soon announce HDTV downloads via iTunes or something similar. That would be much more logical than trying to create a new market with HDTVs. Apple still isn’t out of the woods on the non iPod products, and introducing a TV would likely be too much of an overextension.

  2. Yeah, it means nothing, Apple moved to that aspect for their main page image quite a while ago (I remember, because it made me make my default browser window wider)

  3. 744 x 420 pixels is not HD, but it is the same as pect ratio as HD. To be precise, HD is either 720 or 1080 pixels in height.
