Sometimes I just prefer a web-styled interface when I’m looking for files or organizing my content. When I work on a Windows machine I do this using IE or Firefox….however, I couldn’t find an easy way to do this on the Mac with Safari.
There is, however, a very, very easy way to do this with Firefox. All you have to do is open a Finder window (and open Firefox if you haven’t already) and grab the icon next to the name of your Finder window (for example, grab the House icon next to the name of your computer, of the folder icon next to the title of a Document folder. Then take that and drag it over to Firefox.
Once you do this, Firefox will open up the link and you’ll get that familiar FTP-styled interface. Enjoy.

You know Michael. Including a screen captured shot with these kind of posts is really really helpful. So, why don’t you include pictures with your OS X tips? You said that you are using a windows machine. Windows Live writer Beta can insert pictures to your posts very very easily (as in drag and drop) then you upload your post and everything is okay. I don’t know if there is something like that on the mac. I tried to find one but I couldn’t. What do you think?

This is a neat trick, but the only use I can think of for this is the few times I get so much stuff piled on the desktop that I want to sort it in alphabetical order without messing up the physical arrangement I otherwise have.
If I try to open files this way, many will have to first open a helper app, which is a waste of time, where Finder just pops them open instantly.
Is there another use?
