My guess is that the Macbook and Macbook Pros will be coming shortly, and with AT LEAST the same multi-touch trackpad features that the new Macbook Air enjoys.

Rats. I missed that.

Then yes, i think that users should be 100% upset about it, and I think it might be a good idea to make a stink about it. There's no reason you should be paying more for something that current users are getting for free. Especially since they have already established free software updates with iPhones.

I wish you were right, but the Press Release from Apple today states, "New iPod touch products shipping from the factory will include the software upgrade and existing iPod touch customers can get the software upgrade for $19.99 by purchasing and downloading it from iTunes."

I kind of feel the same way, but keep in mind that the extra features aren't in the new iPod Touches by default. If you want them, you'll still have to buy them as an upgrade even if you buy an iPod Touch today, next week, or whenever.

Upgrade for $20? The $300 I just spent on my iPod Touch one month ago wasn't enough?

I wouldn't be so annoyed with this if the current price of the iPod Touch had been bumped up to $318.99.

Anyone else annoyed by this or am I just being whiney?

Yeah, I can't say that I'm terribly excited about it. I've had my hands on it here at the show now - and it's nice - but I'm not in love.

In fact, I think I would easily choose my Macbook Pro or even a Macbook over it when comparing the prices.

As soon as I get back to some decent wi-fi I will get pics and things uploaded for you guys.

Seems I'll keep my trusty 12" G4 for some more months :(

Macbook Air is quite a nice machine but instead of talking to Otellini, Jobs should have spoken to some nvidia or ati guys to shrink their chips down.

Not being able to swap the battery also sucks, even if it runs for 5 hours

And only 80gb hdd? There are mp3 players which have more storage... Just because the notebook is smaller doesn't mean I want to carry less data around.

Guess I'm just a bit disappointed.

The MacBook AIR is a little bit pricey. Although it's cheaper than the Sony. But when compared to the Macbook and the MacBook Pro, is it really worth it? Remember the 80 GB, the 1 USB port, the lack or ethernet port or FW. I don't know. I think it's overpriced. It should have been priced at $1500. The only reason it's expensive is because of its new and innovative technology. Remember that Steve mentioned an especially made for Apple C2D processor. But innovation gets old and gets cheaper too. I think that I would buy it after 6 months to 1 year of release.
