50,000 People are going to Macworld 2008. Are you one of them?

Table of Contents

Next year’s Macworld is shaping up to be the biggest ever. There are currently 450 Vendors scheduled to have a presence at the show (that’s an 18% increase from last year), and a 25% increase in floor traffic is expected this year as well according to MacNN.

It’s going to be a huge event, and thankfully, I’m going to get to be a part of it this year. I’ll be attending Macworld 2008.

Will you?

  1. I wish, but living in NY makes it kind of expensive getting there. I wish they would alternate coasts. There hasn’t been anything at the Jacob Javitz Center in NYC since 2001.

  2. I’m going AND I saved my pennies and splurged on the pass that gets me access to the SteveNote.

Anybody have any suggestions as to when I should get in line to actually get a seat in the auditorium? I’m hearing things like video in overflow conference rooms which is pointless to me, I can see that at home. Since this is likely the only time I’ll be able to do this I want to be in the auditorium to experience the Reality Distortion Field first hand!

    Thanks in advance!

  3. I’ll be going again. I’ve been going for about ten years now. I sign up for some of the user conferences which are usually good.

Last year I got in line for the keynote about 4:30AM. I was near the front of the line but I sat rather far back. The deal is that the Platinum pass and VIP people get to go in first. This leaves not much room for the rest of us. Still, I’d guess about a thousand non-Platinum people made it in. The Platinum Pass is about $1,650 so you need a corporate sponsor. If you register early in the year for the user conferences you can get access to those and the exhibitions and the Stevenote for about $160.

A few people camp out from the day before. The line really starts to grow quickly after about 5:30AM. Around 6:00AM or 6:30AM the motorcycle cops get positioned at the local intersections and Steve’s entourage blows by in a line of black SUVs.

If you can get into the hall for the live keynote it is really entertaining. Nothing like being there at the moment the announcements are made. Even if you sit pretty far back the large screen gives you a good view of the presentation. Also, there are more large screens towards the rear of the hall.
