Macbooks – Now on Sale at your local…Grocery Store? YUP!

So last night we went grocery shopping. Normal trip, nothing out of the ordinary…and then I walked past the photo booth. They have recently started selling notebook computers but, like every other place in the world, they’re always Windows-based – so I don’t care. Then I saw this…

And I did a double take.

Look at that! A Macbook on sale in a GROCERY STORE! If that doesn’t say something about Apple’s market growth – I don’t know what will.

For those curious, the grocery chain is H-E-B. They’re one of the better grocery chains here in Texas. They have a lot of great organic and healthy selections – and they’re also the only place in town where I can get grilled eel sushi – which is also awesome.

  1. So do they have a whole section of electronics? Maybe they buy from closeouts or stores going out of business or whatever and sell the few items they can get. I doubt a grocery store is an authorized Apple reseller 🙂

  2. H-E-B stores actually vary in quality quite a bit depending on their location, age, and demographic. Many of the newer stores are in newer suburbs, and are indeed quite nice stores.

Luckily they killed an H-E-B Pantry store in my neighborhood in inner Houston, which was utterly horrendous, with narrow aisles, old produce, and riddled with low-quality generics.

  3. @Ryan,

They do have an electronics section. They sell video games, dvds, music, televisions and now notebooks.

The section started out small, but now its pretty damn big. It’s probably the same size as Bill’s H-E-B Pantry.

    🙂
