That’s Why I Pay $99 A Year – MobileMe Galley App Released

The title, my friends, is sarcasm.

When I first bought my iPhone, I bought into MobileMe purely for the syncing. I could give a crap less about galleries and online storage, but if I could have a flawless syncing system, I’d be alright. Flawless … Well … kinda. I’ve had some issues, but they’ve also been quickly resolved. So far, so good – I even renewed this year.

Anyways, today Apple introduced their official MobileMe Gallery app for the iPhone/iPod Touch, which allows you to view your MobileMe gallery right on your phone. From what I can tell, it just shows you what you’ve got, then allows you to mail links to the photos if you like. You can’t upload directly to your account, but that’s OK because the Camera app lets you do it anyways. I wouldn’t recommend it if it cost anything, but for the whopping price of free, I can’t really complain.

Oh, and for the record, those are pics of my trip back home to Boston. You’ll notice pics of Fenway Park in there, as I am a die-hard Red Sox fan. Let the hate begin.

  1. I like it because it alleviates my having to maintain galleries on my iPhone’s Photo app and the storage space required as such. Most of my photo albums on the iPhone originate from iPhoto and thus (can) have matching MobileMe Galleries already. So I get the best of both worlds: on-phone photo galleries, and minimum storage requirements. (The cache system on the app is quite helpful here)
