Special Apple Event on Feb. 20?

I post this with a question mark because this article REEKS of digg bait…but we’ll see.

Apple Recon is reporting that an anonymous source has told them that there will be an Apple Special event on (or around) Feb. 20th – “to introduce Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard), iLife ‘07 and iWork ‘07 as well as updated Mac Pros. Mac Pros will be available immediately with a free upgrade to 10.5 when it ships, and the ship date for 10.5 will be confirmed for 3/24/07”

They go on to cite last year’s Special announcement where they released iPod Hi-Fi and the intel Mac Minis in late Feb. a precedent for this event.

I can’t help but think this is just unconfirmed speculation (especially since there is a paragraph at the end of the article begging for Diggs), but all of us bloggers are guilty of begging for traffic (and speculating..he..he) from time to time…

  1. I have also been told by a major enterprise software manufacture that Leopard will be released in March. I was told this two weeks ago, but of course there is no reason for anyone to believe me. Or for me to believe my supplier…

  2. Mark –

Oh I believe that Leopard will be released in March. I’m just not sure there is going to be an event in Feb.

  3. I, for one, doubt an event in Feb. I just received the “State of the OS” invite to the stuff on ADC. Seems to me like they’d have tied that more closely to the event date if they were planning one.

  4. You need a proofreader. 😉

“They go on to site…” s/b “They go on to cite…”

“… a president for this event” s/b “… a precedent for this event”.

Anyway, let’s hope there’s something to this rumor. I’m anxious to see Leopard released (and competing with Vista).

  5. Charlie –

    You’re right.

What I need to do is slow down when I’m typing, and stop selecting the first thing Google spell checker suggests when I spell something wrong..

    🙂

  6. I think it’s possible. Maybe they’ll announce and introduce the final version of Leopard during the event in Feb then release it in March. Then again i could be wrong.. just guessing.
